The Road to the Sea

sara beach

Aubade

I still want you,
though it hasn't rained
in forever, and we have
lost our sun umbrella.
The road is closed, the one
that leads to the sea,
where no one cares about
the rain, nor the lost umbrella,
nor these words that whisper,
wanting.

The longings grip us long after the path of that romance has passed us by - for the memories of that seaside beauty, they are eternal. Sweet little piece for loves lost.

truly lovely...this line really wrapped around my heart: "and we have
lost our sun umbrella"...sometimes it is hard to love without the drama...funny how that happen in some relationships.

I thought perhaps it was about love lost within a relationship. Lovely.
Favorite part:"these words that whisper, wanting."

My dear, I think this is my favoritest of yours yet. Yes. Do you know Regina Spektor's song, "Come and open up your folding chair next to me. My feet are buried in the sand, and there's a breeze. There's a shadow. I can't see your eyes. And the sea is just a wetter version of the skies." It goes on, and somehow reminds me of your wanting, umbrella-less, shut off from sea.

i don't think that we ever lose the wanting
even though the season has the road closed
there is always the trail of thought
that leads to the heart

So beautiful and sad in its yearning. The title and photo add to its weight and create a pensive, lingering mood.

a wonderful poem of standing at the edge of the sea. OF the woman being fully enveloped by the land, sea and sky. On waiting to grasp the beauty and yet standing in respect of the majesty of nature and of God.
