On a Friday Snowing, for Wednesday, On Tuesday
I wrote this on Friday, when I read the Random Acts of Poetry prompt. It's for One Shot Wednesday, but I'm posting it today. Tuesday. Why not? :)
Friday Afternoon
It is a gentle smothering,
this snow, this day
falling out
of a gray-white
sky, gently
eclipsing
concrete stairs,
which are all the wrong
sizes anyway.

Oh, I love the surprise wackiness of the stairs! Taken over by the mild snow.
You create a wonderful image with that snow "eclipsing concrete stairs".
oh, I want to read this aloud.
and I want to lick the branches (and chew on frozen berries if they are edible).
Blessings.
wonderful rich photo and words ...
nice...i like this...we are getting ice right now...wish it was snow...
Such vivid imagery L.L. The stairs are all the wrong made right. I like that.
When falling is mentioned, it seems to me the lines following it seem to fall near effortlessly like snow itself. Fine poem.
Careful on those eclipsed stairs!
i dont think i could top Dustus comment...what he says is so true...i love the beauty and then the throw away comment with the word anyway..very good..pete
...in which case, the snow's act of smothering was an act of grace, covering over all the wrong things about the stairs.
What Maureen said. Great shift at the end.
Like the poem and loved your road trip adventure. Although I prefer a nice vidalia over a Spanish. ..smiles..
Like autumn's falling leaves, snow leaves us poets having to take pen to paper. What amazes me is how there are so many ways to express the experience. Lovely and unique.
love the gentle smothering, your delicate touch on the face of experience-- beautiful! xxxj

beautiful images...LL...your poetry is always so delicate..bkm
I think what I like best here is that you found the snow gentle, when everyone else described the recent weather as an incapacitating storm.
I like the steps. Like writing on Friday for Wednesday on Tuesday. Or wearing Monday socks on Sunday.
Superb work, simply stated but not simple minded.
