Secret Red Shoes

red sparklers

The Secret

for Kelly Sauer

When I was a girl,
I wanted shoes like Dorothy's.
Red sparkled, to fend off
witches, grant my wishes.
Mine were leather,
with a strap.
I walked into life
anyway, where I found
a red-lipped me,
a star-like you.

This is very sweet. I think we were all enamored with Dorothy at some time in our lives. I know I was. Loved the Wizard of Oz as a little girl.

Love this! A very sweet poem. I always wanted red shoes as a child...not practical, my mother said...so now as an adult I have a favorite pair of red keens for summer and one for winter...not sparkly, but I wear them nearly every day:-)

ahh my shoes don't sparkle but the word verification is "glowing" (hee, hee, hee)

Those shoes are great.
Once I bought my daughter ruby shoes and she promptly jumped in the pool with them...she wished they were mermaid flippers she said.
