You Can Get Away With Anything, So Long as You Sing It

I couldn't resist posting this, smack in the middle of a serious discussion of The Gift. Even if you know nothing about opera, this lady'll make you laugh. Laughter is a special kind of gift, don't you think?

Anna Russell, on Ring of the Nibelungs.

Oh, my goodness.

I was only able to watch the first video before being interrupted...think I'll space these out over vacation when I need a laugh!

Sometimes we do take ourselves too seriously, no? Yes, the gift of laughter--a special one.

Thanks for keeping this gift moving!

For opera buffs there is no humor that quite compares to Anna Russell. There is a guy in Seattle, Scott Warrender, who tries. He composed a spoof on the Ring titled Das Barbecu, complete with immolation scene, of course. It is amusing, but Anna Russell is still the uncontested champion of resounding Ring laughter.
